Once again, during the previous 12 months, a number of state-sponsored research projects could be concluded and work has started on others. The current technical status of all projects is given in the ift Annual Research Report for the year 2008.

The ASO Info Day at the A2-Forum in Rheda- Wiedenbrück has been a constant since the first event in 2003. This forum for the door and gate industry has grown since then and was attended by over 100 participants for the fourth time in February 2010. This, if nothing else, was pivotal for bringing the Info Day to an international level. Thus, the UK Gate Safety Conference took place in Birmingham, Great Britain, for the first time on 27 October 2010. Just as with the German Info Day, ASO Safety Solutions now offers the British market a forum for gathering and exchanging information as well as a chance to have stimulating discussions.

In mid of September 2010 the E.D.S.F. European Door and Shutter Federation e.V. met the first time after the decision at the General Assembly with its working groups: “Service and Maintenance” and “Energy and Sustainability”.

Security and fire safety solutions take center stage on the Siemens stand at Security 2010 in Essen: with Siveillance Fusion, Siemens will present an integrated security management system, which offers a centralized view and control of access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance. Siveillance Fusion is an IT based system with open standards, providing both modularity and flexibility.
